China Glaze Tranzitions

Hey Everyone!!  It's New Year's Eve and I have three fun polishes to share with you today!  They're China Glaze Tranzitions!!

"Out in January, China Glaze Tranzitions is a revolutionary new color-changing nail lacquer that reacts when a clear top coat is applied.  Almost any top coat will work (we recommend China Glaze Fast Forward), changing the color from one shade to another for a stunning effect."

L to R: Duplicityy, Split Perso-nail-ity, Shape Shifter and Fast Forward Top Coat

Pictured above is just one coat of  Duplicityy.  I really like this chalky mint green.  The formula is nice and full opacity is reached with just one coat.

Duplicityy with topcoat:

Instead of just adding topcoat, I used China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat and a dotting tool to create some fast and easy nail art with Duplicityy!  This polish is perfect if you want a fun design with little time.  The topcoat changes the mint color to a shiny teal!

Split Perso-nail-ity:

Split Perso-nail-ity is a really pretty dusty pink without the top coat.  Again, only one coat is required for full coverage.  I personally like this color best out of the three I'm sharing with you today, but that's really no surprise because I'm a pink-lover!

Split Perso-nail-ity with top coat:

I used a dotting tool to apply the topcoat again with Split Pers0-nail-ity. I do recommend using a topcoat that isn't a "fast dry" if you're planning on creating any kind of nail art that takes a little time because Fast Forward became sticky before I finished creating this design. I like the "transition" with Split Perso-nail-ity.. the bold fuchsia is so bright and I like the contrast of the two pinks!

Shape Shifter:

Shape Shifter is listed as a "smoky violet", but it seems more of a charcoal to me with out the top coat.  I like this color, but the formula wasn't as nice as the other two.  I only used one coat, but this formula is a bit thinner and any imperfections (ex: ridges) are more visible with Shape Shifter.

Shape Shifter with topcoat:

Shape Shifter transforms to a royal blue (not really a dark purple as listed) with top coat.  I tried adding stripes with the topcoat at first, but the contrast in colors wasn't strong enough for my liking, so I just added a single coat of topcoat instead.  Make sure you allow the fist coat of Shape Shifter to dry before you add top coat because it will smear if the first coat isn't dry (see my middle finger).  I like this one the least of the three I've shared with you, but it's still a pretty color.

Happy 2013!!!!

My Personal Favorite Indies of 2012

Happy Weekend Everyone!!  I just got done going through my indie posts and I've picked some of my favorites from 2012...

My Personal Faves from 2012:

Here they are, in no particular order...

43 Quintillion from Tough As Nail Lacquer has a clear base with all the colors from the Rubik's Cube.  I love the primary colors and the awesome formula!!

Dirtball  from My Ten Friends is a recent favorite of mine.  I love the brown base and the scattered holo shine.  I love teal and brown together!!

Flowers on the Highway from Happy Hands Nail Polish is a fun springtime glitter topper.. such pretty colors in a clear base!!

Another from Tough as Nails Lacquer is Go Sit On A Egg.. I love the milky white base and the combo of yellows and oranges is unique.  I think it's safe to say Tough As Nails Lacquer is my favorite Indie Shop of 2012! :)

God's Gift to Glitter is another simple creamy white base containing red square and black hex glitters from Aphrodite Lacquers.  It's the simplicity I love most about this one!

GTL (Gym Tan Laundry) from Dollish Polish is gorgeous!!  I love the light blue, royal blue and copper together.  The formula is perfect with GTL.  IF I had to pick just one favorite indie polish of the year.. GTL would be THE ONE! :)

Libra Scales from Pretty & Polished is another gorgeous blue (blue was my fave this year).  I love the jelly finish and the square glitters that just float around in the layers!!  And, yes, I'm a libra, but I would have loved this no matter which sign it represented. :)

Mallard (I forgot to add this to the collage.. oops) by Candeo Colors has a shimmery lilac base with lime, green, silver and purple glitters.  I have this layered over Zoya Caitlin and this is one of my favorite combos from this year..  it's gorgeous!!

E=mc2 by Elemental Styles is another with a milky base.  The base is more gray with silver and black glitters.  Again, simple and gorgeous!!

Mustard Fields  by Sonoma Nail Art was an unlikely pick from me because I'm usually not drawn to greens or yellows, but I immediately fell for this one..  I think it was the yellows flowers :)  Shopping for most polishes from Sonoma Nail Art was a task in itself.  As soon as these polishes would go up for sale on Etsy, everyone would race to buy them.. it was total mayhem, but it was fun!

Pentimento by Lynnderella is another glitter hodgepodge that's so much fun!!  There's a zillion different glitters in Pentimento and a zillion different options to layer this over!  You know I love a versatile glitter! ;)

Rainbow Jello by The Polish Bar is YET ANOTHER milky white crelly.  This polish contains glitters in every color of the rainbow along with white small and large hexes.  It's so much fun and I just love Janice, the owner of The Polish Bar.. she's such a sweetheart with awesome customer service!!

Nice Scrunchy, Heather by Dollish Polish was one of my first favorite indies!!  This polish is THE PERFECT cherry red holo and I'm glad I own two bottles because Nice Scrunchy, Heather is discontinued. I just loved the movie "Heathers" too!!

Seuss by ::whimsical ideas by pam:: has a gorgeous blue jelly base with white and red hex glitters.  I love the formula with Seuss.  If I had to pick a favorite jelly for 2012, Seuss would be THE ONE!!

Shift Happens by Girly Bits is an amazing multi-chrome topper.  Girly Bits was another one of my first indie polishes and I'm so happy for all of Pam's (the owner of Girl Bits) success!!  I've seen this polish on a few other blogger's lists, so it's safe to say everyone seems to love Shift Happens!!

Supa Sugar Bee by Elixir Lacquers is so so so pretty!!! I have it layered over OPI Funky Dunkey in the above picture.  I still love this violet holo every time I grab it from my stash.. it looks great over a darker purple too!!

Warm Fuzzies by Different Dimension is a beautiful chocolate brown holo!!  You don't see brown too often, but I love it and I love Warm Fuzzies!!

**Well, there you have it.. My favorite Indies for 2012!!  I'd love to hear what some of your favorites were!!  Happy New Year Everyone!!**

Christmas Water Marble

Merry Christmas Everyone!!  I have a Christmas-y Water Marble to share with you today.  I watched this tutorial from My Simple Little Pleasures for inspiration.  My nails are no where near as long as hers, so the "poinsettia" design doesn't really look like hers..

Christmas Water Marble:

I used China Glaze for this marble-- Hey Sailor and Holly Day.  I added Out The Door- Northern Lights Holographic topcoat and I wish I hadn't.  I liked the marble better without the topcoat and I smeared my thumb a bit right after adding topcoat..oh well.. Merry Christmas Everyone!!  (Like the background?  I was wearing Old Navy Pajama Pants that had "HO! HO! HO!" all over them ;)

Zoya Lovely.. Spring 2013

Hey Guys!!  It's not even Christmas and I have Zoya's Lovely Spring 2013 Collection to share with you! That's ok with me.. I'm more of a spring/summer person anyway.  This collection is made up of six enticing colors.. three dewy metallics, and three fresh blooms of cream..

Zoya Lovely Spring 2013:
Left to Right: Blu, Piaf, Neely, Julie, Jacqueline, and Gei Gei

Zoya describes Jacqueline as: "a perfect magnolia nude cream." Jacqueline is the only color from this collection I really don't like.  It reminds me too much of  Cho and Farrah.  Jacqueline has slight yellow undertones that don't mesh well with my skintone.  I used three coats for full coverage.

direct sunlight

Zoya describes Neely as: "The earliest spring green cream."  I really like Neely!  She is so much brighter in sunlight!  Neely's formula is perfect.  Pictured above is two flawless coats.  Neely is the perfect Easter green!

Zoya describes Blu as: "a lucky hyacinth blue cream."  Blu really is a "lovely" chalky blue with amazing pigmentation for a pastel!  She's not quite a "sky blue" and not really a "baby blue."  I guess she reminds me of an Easter Egg Blue with a subtle purple hue.. she and Neely would be great colors on Easter Eggs!! :)  I really love Blu.  I know I'll get a lot of use of this one.  I use Kristen a lot and Blu kinda reminds me of her. (I'll have to do a comparison post with some of these).  Pictured above is two coats of Blu.

Gei Gei:
direct sunlight

Zoya describes Gei Gei as: "A blushing cherry blossom pink metallic."  Gei Gei is such a refreshing color.  "Cherry Blossom" is the perfect description of the pink and the metallic is soft and subtle.  I have two coats of Gei Gei in the above three pictures.  (My bottle has Gei Gei spelled "Gie Gie", so it's kinda cool to have one with this error in spelling).

direct sunlight

Zoya describes Julie as: "soft wisteria purple metallic."  Julie is my favorite of The Lovely Collection!  I really thought my faves would be Blu or Gei Gei, but once I applied Julie, I changed my mind.  I really like the way Julie compliments my skintone and again, I'm loving the subtle metallic shimmer.  There's just enough shimmer to make Julie "stand out", but she's still soft and feminine.  Julie screams: "springtime!!" so Zoya really hit the nail on the head with this.  Pictured above is two coats.

direct sunlight

Zoya describes Piaf as: "Fresh Forsythia yellow metallic."  Piaf is much more of an "in your face" metallic.  In direct sun, Piaf is really bright and bold.  The first picture really is as bright as a forsythia bush!  I like Piaf, but I don't like her against my skin.  Yellows and I have never really gotten along well.. LOL.
Again, two coats is all you need for full coverage.

**This collection is amazing!  I love them all except for Jacqueline.  The colors truly are "lovely" and they all remind me of springtime (which I'm sure was Zoya's intention).  I see myself using many of these as base colors for nail art or glitter "undies."  It's no secret I love Zoya.  They're an amazing brand with quality products and customer service that's second to none.  Grab yourself a Zoya or two...I promise, you won't be disappointed!!**

Ultra long-wearing, nail lacquers by Zoya are BIG5FREE - all formulas are completely free of harmful industrial chemicals such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) that are known to cause cancer and birth defects.
